Founders' letter

Hi there, we’re Sofia and Justin! We became friends years ago as Emergent Ventures grant fellows, each pursuing big ideas in biology and biometrics. Despite our different backgrounds, we share one thing in common: a deep frustration with U.S. healthcare. This is why we’re harnessing the latest advances in AI and biology, along with regulatory changes, to build a sustainable, patient-first healthcare system.

Meet the Team

Justin Zheng, CEO, is a Bay Area native with a proven track record in consumer-focused ventures. He has been building startups since high school, and one of his companies was successfully acquired. With AI expertise that predates its current “buzzword” status, Justin provides strong technical leadership.

Sofia Sigal-Passeck, COO, is also a serial founder and a graduate of Yale-NUS College. She previously served as CEO of Uniphage and brings extensive experience in biology and healthcare. At just 22, Sofia already had her own biology lab and served as a Principal Investigator on a U.S. National Science Foundation grant, the youngest in American history.

To complement our skills and enforce scientific rigor, we're advised by the brilliant Dr. Natalie Ma. A key contributor to Slothwise since its inception, Natalie holds a PhD from Yale and is the Founder and CBO at Deep Origin.

Our Philosophy
