ChatGPT Health connects to Apple Health data and can read uploaded medical records. It is the most capable general-purpose AI for health, but it is not health-specific. It can generate plausible-sounding medical information that is wrong, and its answers can vary day to day for the same question. It works best for general health literacy, not clinical decision-making.

Health-specific guardrails: Purpose-built health AI tools apply medical safety filters that general chatbots do not. They refuse to diagnose, decline to recommend medication changes, and redirect emergencies to 911.

After-hours questions: When your doctor's office is closed and you need to understand a new symptom, medication side effect, or test result, AI provides immediate context that helps you decide whether to wait for an appointment or seek urgent care.
